The incident occurred in the morning at the Marmaray Ataköy Station. A 45-year-old man waiting at the station jumped onto the tracks and committed suicide. Upon notification, health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. While the man who jumped onto the tracks lost his life, there were disruptions in Marmaray services. It was reported that for a temporary period, trains were operating on a single track between Florya Aquarium and Zeytinburnu stations, and services were running with delays.
In a statement regarding the incident, Marmaray said, "Dear passengers; due to a tragic event that occurred at Marmaray Ataköy Station, our trains are operating on a single track between Florya Aquarium and Zeytinburnu stations, and Marmaray services are being delayed. We kindly inform our passengers."
Marmaray services returned to normal as of 11:50.
