Taxi drivers are required to use a "taxi financial device" that has specific technical features related to the taximeter. The use of devices approved by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance must begin by July 1. Taximeters will not be able to operate independently without the taxi financial device.
Taxi drivers are required to use a "taximeter financial device" that has certain technical specifications connected to the taximeter.
The draft communiqué from the Revenue Administration (GİB) was prepared in line with the opinions and suggestions received from the sector. According to the compilation made from the draft, the "taximeter financial device" application aims to support the registered economy, ensure compliance with document regulations, and increase the possibilities for card payments. In this context, taxi drivers will be required to use the "taximeter financial device" connected to the existing taximeters.
DEADLINE UNTIL JULY 1
According to the draft, taxpayers engaged in passenger transportation with taxis that are required to have a taximeter must start using taximeter financial devices approved by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance with certain technical specifications by July 1.
In the case of establishing new tax obligations or changing the taximeters used, the approved taximeter financial device must be used within a maximum of 30 days following the date of commencement of work or the date the taximeter was changed. If passenger transportation begins within this period, the device approved before the start of passenger transportation must be used.
PAYMENT REQUESTS WITH BANK CARDS WILL BE ACCEPTED
Taxpayers who start their activities based on new license plate allocations between the effective date of the communiqué and the date of the first approval given by the Ministry will start using the taximeter financial device as of January 1, 2027. Taxpayers will accept payment requests with bank cards through the devices by making an agreement with at least one bank or payment service provider within 15 days following the date they are required to use the device.
Technical examinations regarding taximeter financial devices and taximeters that will operate in connection will be conducted by TÜBİTAK and TSE within the framework of the principles determined by GİB. The taximeter financial device will be defined in two different ways as devices that can issue receipts or e-documents.
HOW WILL THE SYSTEM WORK?
With the activation of the taximeter, the transaction will also start on the taximeter financial device simultaneously. The calculation of the fare on the taximeter will be synchronized with the completion of the transaction on the device. Taximeters will not be able to operate independently of the taximeter financial device.
After the fare is calculated and the transaction is completed, it will be possible to reuse the taximeter after a receipt or e-document is issued from the taximeter financial device. Additionally, the device will not be able to operate independently of the taximeter and will not be able to issue receipts or e-documents. The amount information will automatically come from the taximeter to the taximeter financial device, and manual entry of the amount will not be allowed.
