Work on the Sazlıbosna Bridge, which is under construction on the Kanal Istanbul, has entered a new phase. In this structure, noted as the first bridge of the project, steel decks weighing up to 250 tons are being lifted with special systems and mounted onto the bridge body with millimeter-precise calculations.
Construction work continues at full speed on the Sazlıbosna Bridge, which is being built on the Kanal Istanbul route. In the studies carried out by expert teams with millimetric calculations, a load balance of approximately 500 tons is managed by lifting two separate deck segments facing each other.
250-TON DECK SEGMENTS ARE BEING PLACED
Strandjack crane systems are used in the assembly of the giant deck segments on the Sazlıbosna Bridge. After the steel parts are raised in a controlled manner, they are brought to the target point on the bridge body.
According to information provided by Crane Operator Berkay Mutlay, who works on the project, the bridge consists of a total of 17 main deck segments. While the assembly phase of the 11th deck segment has been reached, the weight of each segment ranges between 250 and 252 tons.
POSITION DETERMINED BY LASER, ASSEMBLY TAKES HOURS
Lifting the deck segments alone is not sufficient. Laser positioning is carried out by mapping engineers to ensure the giant parts are placed at the correct point.
After the placement and adjustment process, which takes about a day, the deck segment is seated at the designated point. Then, the bolting phase begins, which secures the parts to the bridge body. This process is reported to take approximately 12-13 hours.
