The AK Party announced that they will not nominate a candidate for the presidential election to be held on June 16 in the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Council due to the passing of Ferdi Zeyrek. In the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Council, the CHP has 62 members, the AK Party has 14, and the MHP has 12 council members.

AK Party Manisa Provincial Chairman Süleyman Turgut announced that they will not nominate a candidate in the presidential election to be held in the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Council due to the death of Ferdi Zeyrek.

Turgut stated in a written statement that they continue to experience deep sorrow over Zeyrek's passing. He wished God's mercy upon Zeyrek and extended his condolences to his family, loved ones, and the Republican People's Party community, adding the following:

"WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO NOMINATE A CANDIDATE"

"In line with the common decision we made with the AK Party Manisa Organization, members of parliament, mayors, and council members, we have decided not to nominate a candidate in the presidential election to be held in the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Council. We would like to share with the public that we will respect the candidate to be nominated by the Republican People's Party in this election where we will not nominate a candidate. This attitude is a manifestation of our belief in the will of the people of Manisa and our understanding of seeing politics as a service competition rather than a rivalry. Regardless of who the newly elected president is, just like during Ferdi's presidency, we will continue to say 'yes' to all kinds of projects and services that will benefit our Manisa and our fellow citizens."
