A passenger plane that took off from Antalya at 17:05 yesterday evening to perform a flight to Van was redirected to Diyarbakır due to the identification of an 'unknown object' in the air during its descent.

The SunExpress plane, after taking off from Antalya at 17:05, had to change its route after receiving a warning from the tower officials during its descent to Van.

Upon receiving instructions from the control tower, the plane, which landed at Diyarbakır Airport instead of Van Ferit Melen Airport, informed the passengers about the situation through the cabin crew.

SECURITY AIRSPACE SCAN

Following the incident, teams from the Van Police Department Aviation Branch conducted a detailed scan of the airspace using unmanned aerial vehicles against a potential threat. It was learned that no objects were found during the extensive searches conducted.

The SunExpress flight from Antalya to Van continued to wait at the airport to take off again after making a forced landing in Diyarbakır, pending landing permission. Once the flight permission was granted, the plane took off from Diyarbakır and landed smoothly at Van Ferit Melen Airport around 22:10.
