It has been revealed that the antiquarian Fırat Ergenekon, who shared the statement "Reading books is ignorance," filmed a sketch. Ergenekon emphasized the importance of reading by saying, "There are almost no books I haven't read. Especially in poetry, I am number one in Turkey. I am number one in parapsychology. I have read about 6-7 thousand books."
A second-hand book dealer, Fırat Ergenekon, shared a post on his social media account with the note 'Reading books is ignorance,' which quickly garnered thousands of views. Ergenekon, who runs a second-hand bookstore in Ankara, published a response video following the comments on his original video.
"NOBODY IN TURKEY DOESN'T KNOW ME"
Ergenekon stated that he is a student of Mehmet Akif İnan, one of the '7 beautiful men,' and expressed that after years of teaching, he opened a second-hand bookstore. He said, "I have been making videos for 7 years. At one point, I made a lot of money. I was watched so much that millions saw me. However, due to copyright issues from music because of artificial intelligence, I can't earn money right now. The important thing is not to earn money, but to be famous. Right now, nobody in Turkey doesn't know me. My phones have been locked since this morning. My teacher friends and students are congratulating me," he stated.
"I ALMOST HAVE NOT READ A BOOK"
Emphasizing the benefits of reading for society, Ergenekon said, "I have almost not read a book. Especially in poetry, I am number one in Turkey. I am number one in parapsychology. My shop is filled with customers every day, and they are all quality people. Those who know me and my shop know. I have read about 6-7 thousand books. My father was a friend of Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarca. My name was given as Fırat because the daughter of Arif Nihat Asya is named Fırat. It comes from my father," he expressed.
"I HAVE ALWAYS COMPETED WITH MY TEACHERS AND STUDENTS"
Ergenekon conveyed that his teachers across all subjects and educational levels are quality educators, stating, "My teachers guided me. You know how they say, 'I should be better than my father and not worse than my future child.' I have always competed with my teachers and students. I never said enough; I kept working. Success is not enough for me; I need achievements," he said.
