Images have emerged showing the moments when the suspects conducted reconnaissance at the scene before the attack in front of the building where the Israeli Consulate is located in Levent, Istanbul.
The incident occurred yesterday around 12:00 in front of the plaza where the Israeli Consulate is located. Three attackers armed with long-barreled weapons launched an attack on the police officers who had taken security measures. A clash broke out when the police teams responded. One of the attackers was killed in the clash, while two others were neutralized with injuries. Two police officers were lightly injured. During the attack, one attacker was killed, while two suspects were taken to the hospital with injuries. It was learned that the injured attackers were being interrogated at the hospital.
NUMBER OF ARRESTS RISES TO 12
Meanwhile, three more individuals identified as being related to the attack were detained in a nearby area. As a result of the statements of the five individuals in custody and the work of the police teams, six more suspects related to the attack were captured. The number of arrests related to the incident has risen to 12. It was learned that one suspect was caught in Izmit and another in Konya during operations.
IMAGES OF SUSPECTS CONDUCTING RECONNAISSANCE EMERGED
As part of the investigations, police teams determined that the suspects had come to the scene for reconnaissance twice before. The suspects were recorded by nearby security cameras as they arrived at the scene by car on the evening of April 1 and entered a parking lot to conduct reconnaissance. Following this, moments of the suspects conducting reconnaissance with the same vehicle were recorded by security cameras the next morning. Additionally, investigations revealed that the vehicle the suspects used for reconnaissance belonged to them, and after selling that vehicle, they rented another one to carry out the attack.
