Stellantis, one of Europe's leading car manufacturers, will suspend production at its facility in France due to "challenging" market conditions. Nearly 2,000 workers at the factory are expected to be directly affected by this decision.
It has been announced that production will be halted at the Stellantis factory in France between October 27 and November 2. According to a joint announcement from the labor union and the company, nearly 2,000 workers out of approximately 4,700 employees at the factory will be directly affected by this decision.
PEUGEOT AND DS MODELS ARE BEING PRODUCED
At this facility, the Peugeot 308 and 408 models, as well as the DS brand's DS7 model, are being produced. The production halt will temporarily disrupt the production process of these popular vehicles.
"CHALLENGING MARKET CONDITIONS" CITED AS THE REASON
The company announced that the decision was made due to challenging market conditions in Europe and to effectively manage stock levels before the end of the year.
SIMILAR DECISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE BEFORE
Stellantis had previously announced that production would also be halted for three weeks at its facilities in Poissy, France, and Pomigliano, Italy, at the end of September. The new decision is seen as a continuation of a similar step in the company's production planning.
