Ahead of the 8th Ordinary Grand Congress of the AK Party to be held on February 23, it has been claimed that Ankara Deputy Kürşad Zorlu will be appointed to an important position within the party leadership. Zorlu, who joined the AK Party after leaving the İYİ Party, is said to be assigned to a new unit called the "Presidency of Turkish and Related Communities" at the congress. With this appointment, Zorlu will also receive the title of Deputy Chairman of the AK Party.
The AK Party is set to hold its 8th Ordinary Grand Congress on February 23 with the slogan "AK in Name, Future in Light," and while political maneuvering continues, an important development has emerged. It has been suggested that Ankara Deputy Kürşad Zorlu, known as "Akşener's right-hand man," who joined the AK Party after leaving the İYİ Party last month, will be appointed to a critical position in the party management.
HE WILL BE ASSIGNED AS DEPUTY CHAIRMAN
According to the information shared live by TGRT Ankara News Coordinator Ahmet Sözcan, a new unit called "Presidency of Turkish and Related Communities" will be established at the congress, and Kürşad Zorlu will be appointed as the head of this presidency. Thus, Zorlu will take an active role in the party management with the title of AK Party Deputy Chairman.
HE HAD TRANSFERRED TO THE AK PARTY
Kürşad Zorlu resigned from the İYİ Party on January 2, 2025, and joined the AK Party on January 21, 2025. At the AK Party Ankara Provincial Congress, he was presented with the party badge by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and in his speech at that ceremony, he stated, "I will continue to work decisively for the future of Turkey."
No official statement has yet been made from the AK Party regarding this claim, which has caused a significant stir in political circles. However, it is widely believed that Kürşad Zorlu will take on an important responsibility in the party after the congress.
