Famous singer Mustafa Sandal has become embroiled in a legal dispute with his landlord over the apartment he rents in an ultra-luxurious complex in Etiler. The landlord, who argues that the current rent of 65,000 TL is too low, has demanded a new rent of 170,000 TL. After an expert report, the court decided that the monthly rent should be 135,000 TL.

The famous singer Mustafa Sandal has been taken to court due to the ultra-luxurious apartment he rents in Etiler, one of Istanbul's most popular neighborhoods. The landlord, İrem Argat, filed a lawsuit claiming that the rent has been significantly below market rates for years. After mediation talks between the parties ended without a resolution, the case was brought to court.

THEY BECAME INVOLVED IN A LAWSUIT

İrem Argat, who rented her 3+1 apartment in the Savoy Site in Etiler to Mustafa Sandal in 2018, argued that the rent was quite low compared to current market conditions. The site in question features ultra-luxurious residences that offer a lifestyle intertwined with nature and have forest areas. According to a report by Hürriyet, Argat's lawyers stated in the lawsuit that "While the rent for similar apartments ranges between 200,000 and 220,000 lira, it cannot be expected that our client would agree to 65,000 lira."

Bad news for Mustafa Sandal from the court

In the process initiated by the landlord to increase the rent to 170,000 lira per month, mediation could not achieve a settlement, leading the Istanbul Civil Court of Peace to intervene. Sandal's lawyers argued that this demand was unrealistic and requested the dismissal of the case. The court decided to conduct an expert examination of the apartment to reassess the rent. The report prepared by experts indicated that considering the current market value of the house, the rent should be 150,000 TL. However, the court applied a 10% fairness discount to this amount, ruling that the new rent would be set at 135,000 TL per month.
