Due to the Iranian drones striking Nakhchivan Airport, the airport has been closed to flights. A passenger plane departing from Baku landed at Iğdır Şehit Bülent Aydın Airport. 71 passengers were welcomed at the airport with flowers.
The passenger plane making the Nakhchivan flight landed in Iğdır. Nakhchivan residents, welcomed with flowers by the Iğdır protocol, will go to their country by bus.
NAKHCHIVAN AIRPORT CLOSED AFTER IRAN ATTACK
An attack was carried out with a drone from Iran to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Airport. Two people were injured when the drone hit the airport terminal building, causing damage to the building as well. Following the attack, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Airport was temporarily closed to flights.
NAKHCHIVAN PLANE LANDED IN IĞDIR
Due to the closure of the airport because of the attack, the passenger plane making the Baku-Nakhchivan flight landed at Iğdır Şehit Bülent Aydın Airport. The plane, which landed at the airport around 20:30 with 71 passengers, was welcomed with flowers by AK Party Iğdır Deputy Cantürk Alagöz, Deputy Governor Ahmet Gökçecik, Azerbaijan Consul General Zamin Aliyev, Iğdır University Rector Prof. Dr. Ekrem Gürel, AK Party Provincial Chairman Ali Kemal Ayaz, and Airport Director Fikret Bağca. After disembarking from the plane, Nakhchivan residents went to their country by bus after passport control.
AK Party Iğdır Deputy Cantürk Alagöz stated, "I would like to express our sadness for the incident in Nakhchivan. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured. The airport was closed to flights for a while due to the incident in Nakhchivan. For security reasons, Baku-Nakhchivan flights will be conducted via Iğdır. We will be happy to see our Nakhchivan Azerbaijani brothers here. The fact that Iğdır Airport is serving an international flight for the first time will be a separate source of joy for us."
