HE FLED AFTER THE VERDICT HEARING

Dr. Bektaş, who participated in the verdict hearing via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS) at the Erzurum Courthouse, fled after being sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment. It was revealed that Bektaş was found dead in a forested area 48 days later.

THE BODY WAS NOTICED BY A PROFESSOR RUNNING

Prof. Dr. Alaattin Karaca, the former President of the Mountaineering Federation, noticed a body at the base of a tree while he was running and reported the situation to the police. Following the report, police teams arrived at the forested area near Prof. Dr. İhsan Doğramacı Boulevard, which connects the Palandöken and Aziziye districts, and found the male body in a decomposed state.

While the area was secured, the body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution. After examinations, it was confirmed that the body belonged to the fugitive Dr. Erdal Bektaş.
