A passenger bus traveling from Muş to Bursa was attacked in the Karakoçan district of Elazığ. According to claims, the bus with license plate 34 AT 4949, which stopped briefly for a passenger who wanted to go to the restroom, was verbally assaulted by some individuals in the vicinity after the passenger got off.
"THEY TRIED TO HIT WITH WHATEVER THEY FOUND, TREES, IRON"
Bus driver Melik Taşdemir described the events with the following words: "One of our passengers wanted to go to the restroom. We said we could stop at a suitable place. After the passenger got off, a citizen insulted the passenger. Then, harsh words were directed at the staff working in the vehicle. The argument escalated into a fight with the intervention of other passengers. They tried to hit with whatever they found, trees, iron. When we tried to intervene, the situation escalated further. We are currently experiencing victimization; we cannot continue on our way. There were 42 passengers on the bus, including children and families."
PASSENGERS EXPERIENCED GREAT FEAR
Ayşe Akçil, who was a passenger on the bus, recounted the moments of the incident as follows: "We were traveling on the bus making the Muş-Bursa trip. An attack occurred on the bus in the Karakoçan area. They attacked the bus itself, the driver, and the attendant. We were very scared. There were many children and elderly passengers. We saw that they were attacking as if they wanted to kill the driver." After the incident, the bus was stopped at vehicle acceptance facilities, and the gendarmerie was informed. It was learned that the driver, the attendant, and all passengers on the bus filed complaints, and the parties provided statements. After the incident, passengers experienced great fear, and it was reported that there was material damage to the bus. An investigation has been initiated regarding the matter.
