It has been determined that the title "clinical psychologist" used by the server and psychologist Esra Ezmeci does not reflect the truth. In the legal process initiated after the inspections by the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, the court sentenced Ezmeci to 10 months in prison.
It was determined that psychologist, author, and presenter Esra Ezmeci used the title "clinical psychologist" on the sign at her office in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. Teams from the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate found that Ezmeci did not have a diploma that would allow her to use this title during their investigation.
PROSECUTION INITIATED AN INVESTIGATION
After the inspections, the teams that filed a criminal complaint forwarded the case to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The prosecution initiated an investigation against Esra Ezmeci and prepared an indictment. The indictment noted that Ezmeci used a different professional title without having the authority to do so.
"I DID NOT USE THE TITLE" DEFENSE
According to the news on Son TV; Ezmeci, who was questioned as part of the investigation, claimed that she took courses in clinical psychology and completed a master's degree; she argued that she did not use the title "clinical psychologist." However, the prosecution considered the statement on the sign as a criminal element.
10 MONTHS OF PRISON SENTENCE FROM THE COURT
In the case heard at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance, the court found Esra Ezmeci guilty under the "Law on the Practice of Medicine and the Arts of Healing" and sentenced her to 10 months in prison. The court also issued a decision for the Suspension of the Announcement of the Verdict (HAGB).
APPEALED THE DECISION
Ezmeci appealed the decision made against her to a higher court.
