A businessman from Uzbekistan, A.K., who was kidnapped for a ransom of 2.5 million TL in Istanbul, was rescued in a raid on the house where he was being held by the Robbery Bureau teams. The police detained a suspect in connection with the incident. During the search of the house, approximately 550,000 dollars, which were determined to be counterfeit, and fake passports were found. R.I. (45), a citizen of Uzbekistan, reported on Thursday, January 23, at around 15:55 that his businessman friend A.K. had been kidnapped. In his statement at the police station, R.I. said that A.K. was being held against his will in a building located on Fabrika Street in the Fatih Katip Kasım neighborhood.
POLICE RAIDED THE HOUSE
Following the report that triggered the Gasp Bureau to go on alert, teams immediately took action and secured the area around the specified address. The police teams determined that the forcibly held person was in apartment number 2. Subsequently, the teams raided the apartment. Businessman A.K., who had been held in the house with his hands handcuffed for two days, was rescued by the police, while the Uzbek suspect M.N.M. (24), who was waiting as a guard in the house, was also apprehended.
After being brought to the public order branch for his statement, the kidnapped businessman A.K. said he did not recognize his kidnappers, stating, "I was kidnapped after I went outside after having dinner at a restaurant. They first held me at one address. Then they handcuffed me and took me to another place. They took 8,100 dollars from me to release me before my family. However, they later changed their mind and asked for 70,000 dollars this time," he said. The victim businessman filed a complaint against his kidnappers.
FAKE 550 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOUND IN THE HOUSE
Meanwhile, during a search of the house where the businessman was forcibly held, the police seized approximately 550 thousand dollars in packaged form, which was determined to be counterfeit. Additionally, during the search of the house, foreign identity cards, passports issued in the names of different individuals, residence permits issued in the names of foreign individuals, documents used in the production of fake identities, and machines used for watermarking and laminating fake identities were seized.
ONE PERSON ARRESTED, OPERATIONS CONTINUE
The suspect M.N.M., whose procedures were completed at the police station, was arrested and sent to prison after being brought to court on charges of producing fake documents and depriving a person of their liberty. The police stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing in multiple directions. Meanwhile, the moments when the suspects kidnapped the businessman were captured by the security camera of a workplace.
