Security camera footage has emerged showing the moment a cargo package exploded in a luxury site in the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul, injuring two security guards lightly. The footage captures the moment the package exploded like a bomb.
Images have emerged of the moment when a cargo package containing fireworks exploded like a bomb in a site in Istanbul. Two security personnel were slightly injured in the explosion.
SECURITY SUSPECTED THE PACKAGE
The incident occurred on Sunday, January 11, around 1:30 PM in a site located in the Kazlıçeşme neighborhood of Zeytinburnu. According to allegations, a package was left at the reception point at the site by a cargo worker. Employees of EVA Group, who were monitoring the site's security cameras, assessed that the package was suspicious. Following this, the package was carefully removed from its location by private security personnel and moved aside.
PACKAGE EXPLODED, SECURITY PERSONNEL INJURED
The courier arrived and informed the package owner. While the package was being examined, it exploded with a loud noise for an unknown reason. Residents of the site experienced great fear upon hearing the sound, and two security personnel were slightly injured in the explosion. Health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. While extensive security measures were taken in the area, the injured were taken to the hospital after the first intervention at the scene. The security personnel, whose treatments were completed, were discharged from the hospital. While an investigation into the incident is ongoing, a disaster was averted thanks to the vigilance of the security personnel.

Meanwhile, security camera footage of the moment the package exploded has emerged. The footage shows the package exploding like a bomb, with sparks flying everywhere. Those near the package are seen fleeing in great fear.

Security personnel Harun Arkın, who described the moments of the incident, said, "The courier came and mentioned the apartment. When the box arrived, there was no company logo on the courier. I became suspicious of the incident. The resident of the apartment the box came from also wanted to open the box in the lobby out of suspicion. An explosion occurred as the package was being examined. I have a small injury in my eye. My ear was injured. Thank God my health is good now," he stated.
Another security personnel present at the scene, Berra Köse, said, "When we became suspicious of the package, we called and invited him to the lobby. The apartment resident tried to open the package in the lobby, and the incident occurred. We were suspicious of the arriving courier," she said.
PERSONNEL WHO PREVENTED THE DISASTER WERE REWARDED
The security personnel, who assessed that the package was suspicious with the help of the training they received, were rewarded by the company for preventing the disaster. In statements made after the incident, the company's Chairman of the Board, Ali Aydın, stated that the quick intervention was effective due to the training provided on-site and regular drills.
Speaking about the work done, Ali Aydın said, "The bomb training and close combat training we provided earlier, we see these firsthand in the field. This unfortunate incident occurred when the package was delivered to our security personnel friends around 1:30 PM on Sunday. The apartment owner opened the package with our security personnel friends, and due to the presence of fireworks inside the package, two of our friends were injured. It was a sad event for us. After the incident, we ensured the building was evacuated as quickly as possible, then took security measures swiftly and brought the situation under control. Later, we sent our friends to the hospital quickly. Two of our friends were slightly injured. We did our duty to the best of our ability. We thank our friends," he said.
