FLAMES QUICKLY SURROUNDED THE FACTORY
The fire occurred at the citrus packaging factory located in the Hürriyet neighborhood of Erzin. The fire, which broke out for an unknown reason, quickly grew and engulfed the factory in flames. After the workers who saw the fire reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center, police, ambulances, and fire crews were dispatched to the scene.
1 WORKER DIED FROM SMOKE INHALATION
Fire crews from the Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, who arrived at the scene quickly, evacuated 60 workers from the factory and intervened in the flames. A worker who was affected by the smoke and became unwell was taken to the hospital after the initial intervention by the medical team. Despite all efforts made at the hospital, the worker could not be saved.
Police teams have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
