After the clarification of the pension increase to be implemented in the new year, the increase related to the lowest pension has become the focus of the agenda. According to the regulation, the lowest pension has been increased by 18.6% to reach the level of 20,000 TL. In this process, which affects approximately 5 million retirees, the calculation method for the base salary of SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees has also been updated.
With the new year, the increase rates for retirement pensions have been finalized. After the announcement of the inflation data for December, the raise rate for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees as of January 2026 has been determined to be 12.19%. With this increase, a new calculation period for retirement pensions has begun.
THE LOWEST RETIREMENT PENSION HAS BECOME 20 THOUSAND TL
Following the inflation increase, an additional regulation has come to the agenda as some retirees' pensions remained below the determined minimum level. With the legal regulation made, the lowest retirement pension has been increased by 18.6% to 20 thousand TL. It is expected that approximately 5 million retirees will benefit from this increase.
THOSE WITH PENSIONS BELOW 17 THOUSAND TL...
The root salary calculation method for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees has also changed with the new regulation. Despite the 12.19% inflation increase, the monthly payments of retirees whose pensions are below 20 thousand TL will be completed to the new minimum salary level. Accordingly, retirees with a root salary below 17 thousand 827 TL will fall under the minimum salary regulation.

AK PARTY MEMBER GÜLER'S STATEMENT
AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler stated in his announcement that a 12.19% raise has been made for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees under the inflation difference, while this rate has been determined as 18.60% for civil servant retirees. Güler also expressed that the minimum monthly application will continue throughout 2026.
REGULATION SUBMITTED TO THE GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
The regulation regarding the lowest retirement pension has been submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey by the AK Party. After the proposal is accepted in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly, it is expected to be published in the Official Gazette with the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and come into effect. The new regulation covers SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees whose pensions do not reach the level of 20 thousand TL after the increase. Retirees with low root salaries will receive payments based on the minimum salary due to the legal regulation. Thus, in 2026, no retiree's pension will remain below 20 thousand TL.
