It has been claimed that the U.S. military has lost 16 MQ-9 Reaper drones in attacks against Iran since February 28.
"IRAN HAS DOWNED 16 MQ-9 REAPER DRONES"
U.S. officials speaking to CBS News stated that two more American MQ-9 Reaper drones were lost over Iran, claiming that the "total loss has reached 16" during the course of the war.
Officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, claimed that the U.S. military lost two more MQ-9 Reaper drones near the city of Isfahan in central Iran, thus raising the total number of Reapers lost since the U.S. and Israel initiated the war against Iran to 16.
The report stated that it is "easier" to shoot down MQ-9s, as "these vehicles are designed for counter-terrorism environments where air defense capabilities are virtually non-existent, rather than for countries with modern missile systems."
COSTING UP TO 30 MILLION DOLLARS
According to information from U.S. media, an additional Reaper drone can cost around 30 million dollars.
These remotely piloted aircraft are used for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, but they can also carry out precision strikes.
Iranian state media announced on Monday, March 30, that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had "stopped and destroyed" an American MQ-9 drone flying over Isfahan.
U.S. President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have repeatedly stated that the continuous attacks carried out by the U.S. and Israel for a month have "almost completely destroyed" Iran's air defense systems and missile launch capabilities.
