The business owner in Denizli, who poured cologne on the smoking stove to make it smell nice, narrowly avoided disaster when he followed a customer's absurd advice of "It will smell better if you burn it." The horrifying moment when the stove exploded like a bomb was captured by the security camera, while the patrons at the adjacent table remained unfazed by the explosion.
The incident that occurred at the Söğütlüler Café in the Kaklık neighborhood of Honaz district in Denizli was narrowly avoided. Around 8:00 PM, Mehmet Gezer, who went to the café owned by his son Mustafa Gezer, noticed that the stove inside was emitting smoke. After struggling to ignite the stove, Mehmet Gezer took the pot out of the stove. To ensure that the customers in the café were not disturbed, Mehmet Gezer ventilated the area and poured cologne on both the tables and the stove to make it smell nice. At that moment, a customer in the establishment suggested to Mehmet Gezer to ignite the cologne he poured on the stove with a lighter, thinking it would smell better that way. Following the unbelievable suggestion of the citizen, Mehmet Gezer poured a little more cologne on the stove and ignited it with his lighter.

After Mehmet Gezer ignited the cologne he poured on the stove, four customers entered and sat at the table next to the stove. Just seconds after Mehmet Gezer went outside, the stove exploded like a bomb. Those moments were captured second by second on the establishment's security camera. The security camera footage shows Mehmet Gezer pouring cologne on the stove and around it. Later, as the stove exploded and toppled over, the citizen who suggested the idea fled. The four people sitting at the table next to the stove were also noticed to be momentarily stunned.

After pouring cologne on the stove and igniting it with his lighter, Mehmet Gezer said, "I came to the café from home in the evening. I poured cologne on the stove to make it smell nice. My friend next to me said if you light it with a lighter, it will smell better. So I lit the lighter and then went outside. I went out, not even 10 seconds passed, and suddenly there was an explosion inside. It sounded like a bomb exploding. I looked inside, and there was nothing left of the stove. The stove exploded due to the pressure of the cologne. I never expected something like this to happen. This has never happened to us; I am encountering something like this for the first time," he said.
Mevlüt Özçelik, one of the citizens who remained unresponsive for a while after the stove explosion, said, "In the evening, we were playing games with friends as usual. While we were playing, our café friend was pouring cologne on the stove. Suddenly, there was an explosion while we were playing. It exploded quite forcefully. We were in shock for a moment, and then when the soot started to fall on us, we got up and went outside. We didn't understand what happened at the moment of the explosion; we didn't leave our table," he expressed.
