In Samsun, a company that has been selling sweets for years found a toothpick in its prayer candies, with the theme "I cannot feed something I wouldn't eat myself to my children, let alone to other people." The citizen reported the situation to CİMER (the Communication Center of the Turkish Republic).
A citizen who received the mevlit sugar from a business named Gür Şekerleme, which was established in Samsun in 1940 and sends sugar and sugar products to many cities in Turkey, experienced the shock of his life.
COMPLAINED TO CIMER
The citizen, who noticed something strange about the sugar while his children were eating it, discovered the toothpicks inside the candies during his inspection. He reported the situation to CIMER, stating in his complaint letter, "We bought mevlit sugar for the Berat Kandili on February 13 and distributed it. However, when my brother's child ate one of these candies yesterday, a toothpick came out of the candy. When we called the company, we received the response, 'Do whatever you want.' Since I didn't know what to do about this issue, I felt the need to write here."
NO ACTION TAKEN DUE TO INCOMPLETE INFORMATION
The İlkadım District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, which examined the issue, stated in its response that the address of the business in question was missing and that the complaint needed to be resubmitted with the missing information added.
COMPANY: IT FELL OUT WHILE BEING FILLED BY HAND
In response to the allegations, company officials stated, "This is a toothpick; it fell out while being filled by hand. I mean, is this even a job? Can a big toothpick get stuck in the throat? We haven't received such a complaint." The person who filed the complaint expressed that he would reapply by adding the address of the business from which the sugar was purchased to the petition.
