Terrifying images show how police found a girl bound and screaming in a Fritzl-style dungeon and how she was killed by a group seeking revenge on the alleged kidnapper.
In Tramandaí, a city southwest of São Paulo, Brazil, heroic officers rushed to help the missing nine-year-old girl who was desperately screaming for help from an underground den on Wednesday.
Shortly after being rescued from the hellish pit, the girl quickly pointed out her alleged kidnapper, who was later lynched by an angry mob.
The man, identified as Marco Antônio Bocker Jacob, allegedly lured the girl into his shop with a frozen fruit ice, then bound her and locked her in a dungeon beneath.
It is claimed that he then covered the door with beer crates.
Police bodycam footage shows officers hurriedly lifting the crates, breaking bottles in the process, and prying the door open with a crowbar.
Eventually, they found the terrified child with her hands bound.
When she realized she was rescued, the girl pointed and shouted, "It was him, he assaulted me."
The girl was quickly handed over to her tightly hugging and sobbing family.
The 61-year-old man was arrested at the scene, but as news spread through the local area, an angry mob gathered and beat him.
The shop owner's store and car were also vandalized by the furious group, who attacked with anything they could throw.
Despite calls for support from the police, the lynching continued.
Eventually, plastic bullets, tear gas, and pepper spray were needed to disperse the crowd from Jacob.
By that time, he had been severely injured and was taken to the emergency care unit, where he was later pronounced dead.
After a hellish ordeal, the girl provided officers with more information about the hell she had lived through, similar to Fritzl.
Sergeant Christian Pacheco told local media: "We pulled her up by her arm and she went straight into the arms of a colleague of mine."
"We successfully got her out of there, placed her in an unmarked vehicle with her family, and took her to the emergency care unit for initial treatment."
The girl had been reported missing by her family on Tuesday after she did not return home from playing in a local square with her friends.
As residents joined the search for the child, her father went to the shop and immediately suspected Jacob.
He allegedly had a scratch on his face, was acting strangely, and was playing loud music from the speakers.
This was enough for the distraught father to call the police, who confirmed on security cameras that his daughter had entered the shop.
When officers raided the property, they heard her muffled screams.
Police believe the girl had been underground for about 12 hours when she was rescued on Wednesday.
Jacob had previously been convicted of homicide, drug trafficking, vehicle theft, animal cruelty, and bodily harm, they said.
He had been under house arrest since January, and police are now investigating the abuse reported by the girl.
The girl's mother said: "I will give her everything she wants. I will do everything I can to make her happy and help her forget this."
The girl's case resembles that of Elisabeth Fritzl, who was abused for years in a basement by her evil father, Josef, in Austria.
