The Social Security Institution (SGK) has tightened its audits regarding irregular retirement cases by reviewing the premium payments of millions of retirees retroactively. While the audits are ongoing, former SGK Chief Inspector İsa Karakaş issued warnings. Karakaş stated that the presence of the letters "K, Ş, S" in the e-Government service report indicates that the insurance status is at risk.

The SGK (Social Security Institution) has been running the "Fake Insurance Detection Project" since 2016. Within the scope of this project, those suspected of fraud are scrutinized using artificial intelligence technology. Especially, the insurance statuses of expatriates living abroad are examined in detail. Recently, as news about the cancellation of pension payments has resurfaced, a critical warning came from former SGK Chief Inspector İsa Karakaş.

Karakaş stated that the presence of the letters "K, Ş, S" in the e-Government service report indicates that the insurance is at risk.

"YOU CAN SEE THAT INSURANCE HAS BEEN CANCELED WITH THESE THREE LETTERS"

Karakaş used the following statements:

"The presence of letters like 'K, Ş, S' in the e-Government service report indicates that the insurance is at risk. So, will this process come to an end? Of course, it will not. Many of our citizens rightly ask, 'Why didn't SGK audit years ago?' Yes, that is a very valid question. If inspections had been strict from the beginning, the grievances would not have been this large. However, it should not be forgotten that the total number of inspection personnel at SGK is around 1000-1500, and these individuals perform hundreds of different inspection tasks. In a country with a population of 85 million, it takes time to audit all transactions one by one.

In the coming days, months, and years, inspections will continue. If your work is not actual and real, if you are not working in accordance with the service contract, and if you have presented yourself as insured or someone else has presented you as insured, you are at risk. If the letters 'K, Ş, S' are present in the e-Government service report, no matter how many years pass, if SGK conducts an inspection and detects fraudulent work, your retirement will be canceled."

SGK CAN REQUEST THE PAID PENSION BACK WITH INTEREST

When retirement is canceled, SGK retrieves the paid pensions along with interest and late fees. Fake insurance premiums are not refunded. If you have benefited from health services due to fake insurance, SGK may also claim health expenses from you.

WHAT DO THE LETTERS MEAN?

'K' letter: Stands for "Controlled Workplace" and refers to a marking given to a workplace as a result of inspections conducted by inspection personnel regarding the processes of the workplace. Controlled workplaces may have experienced negative situations in the past, leading to grievances for employees. Therefore, through inspections conducted by the Social Security Institution (SGK), continuous monitoring of such workplaces is ensured to prevent employees from experiencing grievances. In controlled workplaces, processes deemed risky are identified based on inspections conducted by inspection personnel, and the working conditions of the workplace are monitored more closely. Thus, it aims to prevent potential problems in the workplace. This practice is of great importance to ensure that employees operate in a safe and healthy working environment.

'Ş' letter: Stands for "Suspicious Workplace" and refers to situations that raise doubts about the activities of a workplace. In such workplaces, uncertainties may arise regarding whether actual activities are being conducted or whether premiums are being paid regularly. As a result of inspections conducted by the Social Security Institution (SGK), such workplaces are marked as suspicious and are monitored more carefully. In suspicious workplaces, the operations conducted by SGK's inspection personnel examine whether the workplace fulfills its legal obligations, the accuracy of its activities, and whether the rights of employees are secured. This practice constitutes an important inspection process to prevent employees from experiencing grievances.

'S' letter: Stands for "Fake Workplace" and refers to the most risky group of workplaces. Such workplaces are registered solely for the purpose of collecting insurance premiums or committing irregularities, without any actual activity. These workplaces, which do not engage in real activities, can be used to pay employees' insurance premiums. Individuals who retire from fake workplaces may have their pensions canceled in the coming years when it is determined that the workplace is fake. Additionally, health services and temporary incapacity benefits received by insured employees in fake workplaces can also be reclaimed along with legal interest. Such situations not only harm employees but also damage the social security system. The Social Security Institution continues to conduct strict inspections to prevent such fake workplaces.
