Despite a ceasefire agreement, tensions along the border between Thailand and Cambodia have escalated, leading to intensified clashes. Cambodia's Information Minister Neth Pheaktra reported that, according to initial findings, four Cambodian civilians have lost their lives and nine others have been injured.
CLASHES BETWEEN THAILAND AND CAMBODIA ESCALATE
Pheaktra shared that tens of thousands of people have been displaced from various villages near the border. Meanwhile, the Thai army announced that more than 50,000 people have left areas close to the border and have taken refuge in shelters.

Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Manet made a statement regarding the renewed clashes between Thailand and Cambodia, despite the ceasefire agreement, through his Facebook account, which is owned by the US-based Meta company.
STATEMENTS CAME IN RAPID SUCCESSION
Manet pointed out that government officials are working to protect the public and the country's sovereignty, stating, "I urge all ministries, institutions, authorities, armed forces, and Cambodian citizens to unite for the cause of the nation and homeland during this difficult time."
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that military operations would continue if deemed necessary to defend the country and ensure public safety.
Charnvirakul, who argued that his country does not want "violence," reiterated, "I want to emphasize that Thailand has never initiated a war or invasion, but will never tolerate violations of its sovereignty."
THEY HOLD EACH OTHER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CLASHES
As tensions along the border between Thailand and Cambodia have been rising for some time despite the ceasefire, both sides have blamed each other for the renewed clashes.
Thai Army Spokesperson Winthai Suvaree stated in a statement that fire was opened on "military and civilian targets" in the Chong An Ma area from Cambodia around 5:00 AM local time, and the army responded with airstrikes.
The Cambodian Ministry of Defense reported that the Thai army had launched airstrikes with F-16s.
Defense Ministry Spokesperson Maly Socheata claimed that the Thai army initiated airstrikes and that Cambodia did not respond.
BORDER TENSIONS BETWEEN THAILAND AND CAMBODIA
Thailand and Cambodia, separated by 817 kilometers of border fences in Southeast Asia, have long been experiencing territorial disputes. Following a violation of the border agreement between Thailand and Cambodia, a brief clash occurred in the region on May 28, and the armies of both countries agreed to resolve the issue peacefully. After about two months, clashes erupted along the border on July 24, resulting in the deaths of 32 individuals from both countries.
On October 26, Thailand and Cambodia signed a "peace agreement" during a ceremony attended by US President Donald Trump in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as part of the 47th ASEAN Summit, aimed at resolving the border clashes that occurred in July.
Cambodia announced that it had begun to withdraw heavy weapons from the border areas mutually with Thailand after signing the peace agreement following the border clashes.
