The contactless payment limit for card transactions without a password is being increased from 1,500 lira to 2,500 lira starting tomorrow. The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency has sent a letter to banks regarding the update of the limit.
Contactless payments, which allow payments to be made without any contact via cards and mobile devices, will increase the limit for password-free transactions from 1,500 lira to 2,500 lira starting tomorrow.
TRANSACTION LIMIT UPDATED
In a letter sent to banks by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, it was stated that the password-free transaction limit for contactless payments, which was raised to 1,500 lira on July 1, 2024, has been updated after 1.5 years. It was reported that the password-free transaction limit will be applied as 2,500 lira starting from January 15.
LIMIT IN EUROPE IS 50 EUROS
The password-free transaction limit for contactless payments is implemented in many places around the world. Looking at global examples, it is seen that this limit is 100 pounds in the UK, and 50 euros in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Germany. In the USA, there is no standard for this limit, and banks set the limit themselves.
