Female students residing in Ege and Bornova KYK dormitories protested the practice of sending messages to families for those who enter the dorm after 11:00 PM, arguing that it violates their privacy.

Female students residing in Ege and Bornova KYK dormitories in Izmir staged a protest against a new regulation implemented in dormitories affiliated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. According to the regulation, families receive a notification message for students who enter the dormitory after 11:00 PM.

"INTERFERENCE WITH PRIVATE LIFE" REACTION

The students expressed that the regulation infringes on their private lives as adult individuals and reacted against the decision. The students participating in the protest stated that university students cannot be kept under family supervision and that such practices create a pressure element.

PROTEST BECAME A TOPIC OF DISCUSSION

The protest of students pouring out of the windows of the dormitory quickly resonated on social media as well. While the students demanded the withdrawal of the regulation, no statement has been made by the authorities regarding the issue.
