The meeting will be attended by DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, as well as members of the Imralı Delegation, during which Öcalan's new message regarding the process will be shared with the public.
DEM Party will hold an event on February 27, 2026, Friday at 11:00 AM at the Yılmaz Güney Stage in Ankara, on the occasion of the first anniversary of Abdullah Öcalan's call for the PKK to lay down arms and dissolve itself. During the event, the progress made in the past year will be evaluated, and Abdullah Öcalan's new message will be announced.
ÖCALAN'S LAST MESSAGE CAME ON FEBRUARY 16
In the message that emerged after his last meeting with the Imralı Delegation on February 16, Öcalan described the process as "a structure that continuously reevaluates itself, determining its strategy and tactics." Öcalan characterized this stage as "an entry into Democratic Integration," using the following expressions:
"We will integrate rationally with the Republic. There needs to be an architecture for this. It would not be correct to reduce the issue to just a few changes in criminal law articles. The main elements of this architecture are present in the February 27 declaration; this is a political program."
ÖCALAN HAD CALLED ON PKK LAST YEAR
On February 27, 2025, Abdullah Öcalan had called on the PKK to convene its congress and announce its dissolution. In the statement made under the name "Call for Peace and Democratic Society," it was stated, "Just as every contemporary society and party whose existence has not been forcibly terminated would voluntarily do, convene your congress to integrate with the state and society and make a decision; all groups must lay down their arms, and the PKK must dissolve itself."
