Crocodile expert Adam Britton has been sentenced to 10 years and 5 months in prison for torturing and sexually abusing more than 42 dogs. Britton, convicted of 56 crimes, will serve at least 6 years in prison and will be banned from owning any mammal for life. His crimes included torturing his own dogs and killing dogs he had purchased. Police found horrifying evidence at his home. Britton claimed to be struggling with a rare disorder. The punishment has been deemed inadequate by animal rights advocates.

Crocodile expert Adam Robert Corden Britton has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting and killing dogs. He was convicted of 56 counts of torture and sexual exploitation of over 42 dogs in the Darwin Supreme Court.

Britton has been sentenced to 10 years and 5 months in prison, starting from April 2022, and will serve a minimum of 6 years. He has also been banned from owning mammals for life.

Judge Michael Grant described Britton's crimes as "disgusting cruelty to animals." Britton's lawyer argued that a lifetime ban on owning animals was excessive.

Britton committed the crimes from 2014 to 2022. He abused animals in his own "torture room," recorded videos, and shared them online. He also encouraged others to commit similar crimes.

His crimes included torturing his own bred dogs and killing dogs he purchased from unsuspecting owners in the Darwin area. Within two years, he acquired approximately 42 dogs and killed most of them within a few days.

Police found horrifying evidence in Britton's house, including frozen dog limbs, decaying puppy, and severed dog heads. He was also found guilty of possessing child abuse material.

Britton read an apology letter in court and claimed to be struggling with a rare paraphilic disorder. However, his sentence was deemed inadequate by animal rights advocates.

This incident highlighted the connection between violence against animals and violence against humans. Advocates argued that Britton posed a danger to society and his sentence should have been longer.
