In the Jajpur district of Odisha state in eastern India, a horrific incident occurred when 57-year-old Soudamini Mahala was attacked by a giant crocodile while bathing in the Kharasrota River. Footage captured by witnesses clearly shows the moments when the crocodile dragged Mahala underwater, holding her in its mouth.
At the time of the incident, villagers on the riverbank shouted for help in shock. Unfortunately, no one was able to reach the woman in time. Eyewitnesses reported that the crocodile suddenly attacked the woman and quickly pulled her into the water.
After the incident, villagers jumped into the river to try to save the woman, but they were unsuccessful against the crocodile's powerful jaws. The police arrived in the area and began search efforts for Mahala's body.
Witness Naba Kidhore Mahala recounted the events, saying:
"When the crocodile dragged the woman, we immediately jumped into the river to save her, but our efforts were in vain."
Authorities emphasized the need for measures to be taken against crocodile attacks in and around the Kharasrota River. The villagers expressed that they would not be able to erase this tragic event from their memories, feeling both fear and deep sorrow.
This horrific attack once again demonstrated how sudden and deadly crocodiles can be.
