The Dardanelles Strait was closed to traffic in both directions due to heavy fog. Ship captains were warned via radio, and ships were held in anchorage areas.

The dense fog affecting the Dardanelles Strait disrupted maritime transportation. Due to the reduced visibility, as of 00:25, the strait traffic was closed to two-way access. Officials from the Dardanelles Strait Vessel Traffic Services Directorate warned ship captains entering the strait via radio and announced that the strait traffic was closed.

SHIPS ARE BEING HELD IN ANCHORAGE AREA

Following the announcement, ships were held in the anchorage areas at the entrances of the Marmara and Aegean seas.
