The Turkish Statistical Institute announced the results of the address-based population registration system. As of December 31, 2025, Turkey's population reached 86 million 92 thousand 168. Turkey's population increased by 427 thousand people in 2025 compared to the previous year.
TUIK announced Turkey's population for 2025. Accordingly, the population of Turkey in 2025 reached 86 million 92 thousand 168 people. The male population was 43 million 59 thousand 434, while the female population was 43 million 32 thousand 734.
THERE ARE 1 MILLION 519 THOUSAND FOREIGNERS IN TURKEY
According to the results of the Address-Based Population Registration System (ABPRS), the foreign population residing in our country increased by 38 thousand 968 compared to the previous year, reaching 1 million 519 thousand 515. This population consists of 49.3% men and 50.7% women.
POPULATION GROWTH RATE IS 5 PER THOUSAND
The annual population growth rate was 3.4 per thousand in 2024, while it became 5 per thousand in 2025.
The proportion of people living in provincial and district centers, which was 93.4% in 2024, increased to 93.6% in 2025. On the other hand, the proportion of people living in towns and villages decreased from 6.6% to 6.4%.
67.5% OF THE POPULATION LIVES IN DENSE CITIES
With the start of using the Spatial Address Registration System (SARS), a new classification has been created that more accurately reflects the actual urban-rural structure, distinguishing between "dense city, medium dense city, and rural." According to this classification, it was observed that 67.5% of Turkey's population lives in dense cities, 15.8% in medium dense cities, and 16.8% in rural areas.
POPULATION DECREASED IN 33 PROVINCES
In our country, while a decrease in the population of 40 provinces was observed in 2024 compared to the previous year, it was seen that the population of 33 provinces decreased in 2025.
