According to TÜİK's 2025 data, Turkey's population has risen to 86 million 92 thousand 168, while the province with the smallest population is Bayburt, with 82 thousand 836 people; followed by Tunceli, Ardahan, Gümüşhane, and Kilis.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced the population data for the year 2025. Accordingly, Turkey's population reached 86 million 92 thousand 168, an increase of 427 thousand 224 people compared to the previous year.

MALE POPULATION EXCEEDS FEMALE POPULATION

According to the announced data; the male population was recorded as 43 million 59 thousand 434, while the female population was recorded as 43 million 32 thousand 734. Males constituted 50.02% of the total population, while females constituted 49.98%.

THE PROVINCE WITH THE LEAST POPULATION IS BAYBURT

According to the 2025 data, the province with the least population was Bayburt, with 82 thousand 836 people. Bayburt was followed by Tunceli with 85 thousand 83 people and Ardahan with 90 thousand 392 people.

RANKING OF PROVINCES WITH THE LEAST POPULATION

According to TUIK data, the other provinces with the least population were Gümüşhane with 138 thousand 807 people and Kilis with 157 thousand 363 people. These five provinces were among the cities that constituted the smallest share of Turkey's population.
