While fluctuations in Brent crude oil and exchange rates continue to affect fuel prices, a price increase of 1 lira and 15 kuruş for diesel is expected to take effect starting Wednesday. With the price increase reflected at the pump, diesel will be sold for 56 lira per liter in Istanbul and 57 lira and 9 kuruş in Ankara.
The fluctuations in Brent crude oil and the volatility in the exchange rate have once again pushed fuel prices upwards.
HEAVY INCREASE IN DIESEL PRICES ON THE WAY
According to information obtained from industry sources, a price increase of 1 lira and 15 kuruş is expected to take effect on diesel prices starting from Wednesday.
WILL RISE TO 56 LIRA IN ISTANBUL
With the price increase reflected at the pump, the price of diesel will be sold at 56 lira in Istanbul, 57 lira and 9 kuruş in Ankara, and 57 lira and 35 kuruş in Izmir.
HOW ARE FUEL PRICES CALCULATED?
Fuel prices are calculated by refineries based on the average prices of refined products in the Mediterranean market, which includes Turkey, and changes in the dollar exchange rate. As a result of this calculation, the prices applied by distribution companies may show slight variations due to competition and freedom among companies and cities.
EPGIS HAD DECIDED NOT TO ANNOUNCE PRICE CHANGES
After the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) filed a complaint against EPGIS, the only union that explains price changes, the union announced that it would not share fuel price changes with the public until the legal process is concluded.
