Texas Governor Gregg Abbott made a press statement regarding the flood disaster that occurred due to heavy rainfall on July 4. Abbott stated that the number of fatalities across the state has reached 109, and reported that 161 people are missing in Kerr County alone. No information was shared regarding the total number of missing persons statewide.
Abbott stated that the operations will continue until all the missing persons are accounted for.
In the southern state of Texas, heavy rains that suddenly began on July 4 caused the Guadalupe River in Kerr County to overflow, leading to flooding. President Donald Trump had declared Kerr County a disaster area due to the flood disaster.
