Specialist Sergeant Önder Özen, who was injured in the Pençe Operation area in northern Iraq, was martyred in the hospital where he was receiving treatment. While the martyr's body was being buried in his hometown of Afyonkarahisar, the dialogue between the martyr's daughter and his commander regarding a 'safety pin' deeply saddened everyone.
During the search and rescue operation carried out in the Pençe (Hakurk) Operation area in northern Iraq, Specialist Sergeant Önder Özen, who was injured, became a martyr in the hospital where he was treated. The martyr's body was buried in his hometown Afyonkarahisar. While emotional moments were experienced at the funeral, the dialogue between the martyr's daughter and the commander moved everyone.
"LET'S BE CAREFUL, I DON'T WANT THE NEEDLE TO STICK TO MY DAD"
A female commander pinned a photo of the martyr and a paper that said "martyr's child" to the dress of the martyr's 4-year-old daughter Alya with a safety pin. Upon the commander's words, "Let's be careful, I don't want the needle to stick to you," Alya replied, "The safety pin is sticking to my dad. Let's do it from the side without sticking to dad."
HIS WIFE CRIED WHILE HOLDING THE COFFIN
At the ceremony, the martyr's wife Yeşim, his father Hasan, and his mother Havva Özen cried while holding the coffin. Later, the martyr's funeral was buried in the village cemetery.
