Fuel stations that quickly reflect fuel price increases at the pump are delaying fuel sales under the pretext of "system malfunction" when it comes to discounts. Consumer Rights Associations emphasize that no fuel station has the right to refuse sales for reasons such as "system malfunction" or "no fuel left in the tank."

Recently, while there have been consecutive reductions in fuel prices, the reactions from consumers are also increasing. Citizens state that price hikes are reflected on the signs "immediately," but discounts are applied "with a delay." They claim that some fuel stations do not sell during discount periods under the pretext of "system failure."

THEY REFLECT IT LATE ON THE SIGN

For example, when both gasoline and diesel prices increased on March 25-26, some fuel stations changed their signs without waiting for the official announcement, while it is reported that they are dragging their feet in reflecting the discounts from yesterday and the day before on the signs.

CITIZENS ARE REACTING TO THIS SITUATION

Consumers are expressing their outrage on social media, stating, "Discounts are reflected late under the pretext of a malfunction. This happens when there is a discount, and also when there is a price increase. When we want to buy fuel before a price hike, we are met with the response 'there is no fuel available,'" criticizing the situation.

AUTHORITIES WARNED: WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS ILLEGAL

According to a report in the Türkiye newspaper; Consumer Rights Associations emphasize that no fuel station has the right to refuse sales under excuses like "system failure" or "no fuel left in the tank." Authorities, who note that such practices are particularly encountered during discount or price increase periods, express that consumers should file complaints with photographic evidence and that the EPDK (Energy Market Regulatory Authority) should closely monitor the process. In statements made by Consumer Associations, it is emphasized that "stopping fuel sales before a price increase or discount is illegal. Consumers' rights to benefit from discounts cannot be violated."
