The division in CHP continues: The mayor resigned.

Adana Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar announced his resignation from CHP membership and joined the New Party, founded under the leadership of Özgür Özel. Aydar said, "For me, politics means standing firmly behind the values you believe in. I am making this decision because I believe Turkey needs a politics that generates hope again."

Ceyhan Mayor Aydar announced his resignation from CHP membership and his participation in the new political movement founded under the leadership of Özgür Özel, during a speech at the Advisory Board Meeting organized by the CHP Ceyhan District Directorate at Murat Göğebakan Cultural Center.

Speaking at the meeting, Aydar stated that this decision was "one of the most difficult but most honorable decisions made after years of political struggle."

Aydar emphasized that he never saw politics as a position, seat, or badge, saying, "For me, politics is standing firm behind the values you believe in. It is daring to pay the price. It is making the toughest decision when necessary."

Aydar recounted starting his political career in the ranks of the CHP at age 18, hanging posters, serving at ballot boxes, assuming the role of CHP Ceyhan District Chairman, and being elected Mayor of Ceyhan in the 2019 and 2024 local elections.

HE RETURNED THE BADGE TO GÜRSEL İLÇİ

Aydar returned the CHP badge to Gürsel İlçi, who had pinned it on him when he joined the CHP at age 18. Subsequently, the badge of the new party founded under Özgür Özel's leadership was pinned on Aydar by Hıdır Bayrak, one of CHP's oldest members.
