Snakes entering a house in the village of Aşağıolukbaşı, located approximately 30 kilometers from the district center of Yüksekova in Hakkari, turned the life of the Özmen family into a nightmare.
THEY ASKED AUTHORITIES FOR HELP
The Özmen family residing in the village has been experiencing anxiety for a long time due to snakes appearing at various points in their home. Unable to achieve results from their own efforts, family members reported the situation to the authorities and requested support.
"OUR HOUSE IS UNDER SNAKE INFESTATION"
Caner Özmen, one of the family members, stated that they have difficulty maintaining their daily lives due to the presence of snakes in the house. Expressing that they even feel anxious about entering their own home, Özmen said, "For many years, our house has been virtually under a snake infestation. We feel great fear even when stepping into our own home. Our sleep patterns have been completely disrupted due to the fear of encountering a snake during the night. The snakes climb up to the bird nests in the roof of the building. This situation has not only affected us but also our animals; to date, one of our sheep has died from a snake bite, and many of our pigeons have been killed by snakes as well. We are worn out both materially and spiritually."
VILLAGE RESIDENTS REQUEST INVESTIGATION
Stating that they want a permanent solution to the problem, Özmen said they expect expert teams to carry out pest control and technical inspection in the area.
Village residents also drew attention to the risk the situation poses, especially for the safety of children, and asked authorities to launch a comprehensive effort against snakes by directing teams to the address.
An investigation is expected to determine whether the high snake density in the region is due to seasonal conditions or the physical structure of the building.
