Harvest has begun for the cucumbers used in making geographically indicated Çubuk pickles in Ankara's Çubuk district. Production of Çubuk cucumbers, described as "green gold," is increasing every year. Water resources in the region play an important role in the quality of the cucumbers.
Harvesting of cucumbers used in the production of geographically indicated Çubuk pickles has begun in the Çubuk district of Ankara.
PROTOCOL CARRIED OUT HARVEST
Aşağı Çavundur Neighborhood harvest program was attended by Çubuk District Governor Vehbi Bakır, Çubuk Mayor Baki Demirbaş, Çubuk Chamber of Agriculture President Orhan Gülle, officials from the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the neighborhood headman, and producers.
The protocol harvested with producers, collected the first products of the season, and received information about ongoing work.
"WE DESCRIBE IT AS GREEN GOLD"
Demirbaş told reporters that Çubuk pickles have a significant market in Turkey and abroad, stating, "We have started the harvest season of our Çubuk cucumber, which we describe as green gold. Production increases every year in our district. This is pleasing for both our producers and our district's economy."
"INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION IS INCREASING"
Referring to Çubuk pickles as a patented and high-value-added product, Demirbaş noted that through organized festivals and promotional activities, the product's recognition in domestic and international markets increases every year.
Governor Bakır expressed his pleasure in participating in the harvest of cucumbers, the main raw material of the pickling industry, saying, "We started today with rain. May God grant abundance and fertility to all our farmers' products."
Neighborhood headman Abdullah Esre noted that water resources play a significant role in the quality of cucumbers.
