Recently, earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Ahmet Övgün Ercan, whose illegal extension at his summer villa in Kuşadası was revealed, demolished the illegal additions after teams arrived at his house following a tip-off from neighbors, and put his house up for sale. It was also discovered that Ercan had personally demolished some of the extensions early in the morning before the teams arrived. He has reportedly made an agreement with a real estate company and left the district.
In publications where he explains the reality of earthquakes in Turkey, earthquake expert Prof. Dr. Ahmet Övgün Ercan had been harshly criticizing illegal construction and urban planning. It was revealed that he had added an illegal floor to his summer house located in the Kuşadası district of Aydın.

After his neighbors reported him, the teams from the Kuşadası Municipality Building Control Department conducted inspections at the house and decided to demolish the illegal parts.

According to a report by Yeni Asır newspaper, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Övgün Ercan, who had the illegal additions in his house demolished and put his villa up for sale, reportedly vacated the house on the same day.

During the inspection, it was determined that unauthorized closures were made on the ground floor, an illegal floor was added to the attic, and illegal outbuildings were constructed in the garden under the pretext of zoning peace. While the lawsuit filed on this matter is ongoing, it was revealed that Prof. Dr. Ercan demolished the illegal additions with his own hands early in the morning the day before yesterday, without waiting for the legal process.
APPLIED TO A REAL ESTATE COMPANY
Afterwards, it was learned that Ercan, who had the illegal attic demolished by the officials he called, applied to a real estate company to put his villa up for sale.
