In an incident that occurred in the Tire district of İzmir, 79-year-old Semayi Emirhor collapsed at a bus stop and nearly choked to death when his tongue fell back into his throat. The quick intervention of a police officer who was in the area at the time saved the elderly man's life.
79-year-old Semayi Emirhor, who collapsed while waiting at a bus stop in Tire district of Izmir and had his tongue slip back into his throat, clung to life thanks to the timely intervention of a police officer present at the scene.
FELL SUDDENLY WHILE SITTING ON A BENCH
The incident occurred around 1:30 PM at the bus stop in Tire Republic Square. While sitting on a bench, Semayi Emirhor suddenly fell to the ground and was injured on his head due to the impact with the concrete surface. Emirhor, who had difficulty breathing, had his tongue slip back into his throat.
FIRST INTERVENTION BY TRAFFIC POLICE
At that moment, traffic police officer Murat Akbulut, who happened to be at the scene, made the first intervention to the elderly man. Akbulut removed Emirhor's tongue from his throat, opened the airway, and prevented his tongue from slipping back into his throat until the medical teams arrived. The police officer stayed by Emirhor's side, ensuring he took deep breaths to keep his consciousness clear.
SURVIVED A HEART ATTACK
Semayi Emirhor, who was handed over to the medical teams that arrived at the scene upon notification, was taken to Tire State Hospital by ambulance. It was determined that Emirhor had suffered a heart attack while being treated in the hospital.
