ISTANBUL DEPUTY GOVERNOR APPOINTED AS TRUSTEE
Following Özer's arrest, the Ministry of Interior announced in a written statement that Istanbul Deputy Governor Can Aksoy was appointed as the trustee of the municipality.
WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR
The written statement from the Ministry included the following expressions; "As part of the investigation numbered 2024/162302 conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Esenyurt Mayor suspect Ahmet ÖZER, who was arrested by the court for the crime of being a member of the 'PKK/KCK Armed Terrorist Organization'; has been temporarily removed from office by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393. In accordance with Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, Istanbul Deputy Governor Can AKSOY has been appointed as the Acting Mayor of Esenyurt by the Istanbul Governorship."
WHAT HAPPENED?
As part of the investigation initiated for the crime of "being a member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization," Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained in the early hours of yesterday morning and was arrested in the evening and sent to prison.
