30-year-old Carly, who lives in Queensland, Australia, shared her extraordinary experience after being struck by lightning. The young woman, nicknamed "Electric Carly," explained that after this natural event, the color of her eyes changed from green to dark brown.

Carly, who has always had a great interest in lightning and has shown this interest with three different tattoos, went outside during a storm in December 2023 to get better footage. While trying to record the storm, she was suddenly struck by lightning.

"I felt a wave of tingling in my arms. When I looked in the mirror, I saw that my pupils were extremely dilated. I felt like I had taken drugs," the young woman recounts. "I was drenched in sweat, my head was spinning, and I felt strangely out of it. Then suddenly, I lost sensation in all my limbs and couldn't move an inch."

Carly's roommate immediately called an ambulance. By the time she got into the ambulance, her hands and feet had turned blue, and she could only move her head and neck. At the hospital, doctors diagnosed her with keraunoparalysis - a rare neurological condition caused by lightning strikes that leads to temporary paralysis. Carly was unable to move for a full nine hours.

Having almost completely recovered within two weeks, Carly continues to live with some permanent changes. "My eyes, which were previously green, are now dark brown. When I researched online, I learned that changes in eye color are not uncommon in people who have been struck by lightning," she says.

Carly notes that the area of her head where she was struck by lightning is still very sensitive and feels warm to the touch, so she is careful when brushing her hair. She humorously adds that this extraordinary experience has positively reflected on her dating life as well.

"Statistically, a person who has been struck by lightning once has a higher risk of being struck again. So I definitely don't take risks during stormy weather anymore," she concludes.
