The statement indicated that there is a trend of increasing case numbers and that the highest transmission rate is observed among young adults living in urban areas.
The European Union (EU) Commission's Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA) had sent 10,000 doses of vaccine to Uganda as part of the fight against the Mumps virus.
MUMPS VIRUS
The Mumps virus is transmitted from rodents such as rats and squirrels or from infected individuals. Touching the body rashes caused by the virus, using clothing, sheets, towels, and similar items contaminated with these rashes, and contact with bodily fluids are among the main transmission causes.
The first symptoms can appear within 5 to 21 days after contracting the virus. The virus generally causes high fever, headaches, back and muscle pain, swelling of lymph nodes, fatigue, chills, shivering, and skin blisters similar to chickenpox.
