Despite being mid-February, the air temperature across the country is above seasonal norms. For the last two days, it has felt almost like spring. However, a warning has come from meteorology. Accordingly, today there will be a storm and desert dust will be effective. Thermometers will drop to 5 degrees today and will fall to 11 degrees by Wednesday. Experts have warned about a decrease in air quality and adverse conditions such as mud rain.
Warnings upon warnings have come from the General Directorate of Meteorology. Experts have warned citizens to be cautious, stating that mud rain may occur. According to forecasts, temperatures will drop by 5 degrees today and by 11 degrees by Wednesday.
It is predicted that the general region will be partly and very cloudy, with rain and showers expected in the Marmara, Aegean, western Mediterranean, the western Black Sea, as well as in the regions of Konya, Eskişehir, Ankara, Kırşehir, Yozgat, Samsun, Amasya, and Tokat. It is expected that the rainfall will be locally strong in the Coastal Aegean. Winds are expected to blow strongly and briefly as a storm (40-80 km/h) in the Marmara, Aegean, western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and the inner parts of the Black Sea. In the eastern regions, frost and freezing events, along with fog and localized mist, are expected in the morning hours. There is a risk of avalanches and snowmelt in the high areas of the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the sloped areas in the east of Eastern Anatolia. Dust transport is expected in the inner regions.
According to forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology, temperatures in the western regions will decrease by 3 to 5 degrees, while no significant changes are expected in other areas. Winds are expected to generally blow from southern directions, lightly to occasionally moderately, with strong and brief storms (40-80 km/h) expected in the Marmara, Aegean, western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, and the inner parts of the Black Sea.
YELLOW CODE WARNING FOR 19 PROVINCES
MGM also issued a yellow code warning for storms and heavy rainfall for Afyonkarahisar, Ankara, Aydın, Balıkesir, Burdur, Denizli, Giresun, Isparta, Istanbul, Izmir, Kırşehir, Konya, Manisa, Muğla, Ordu, Samsun, Sinop, Aksaray, and Karaman.
DESERT DUST WARNING
MGM issued a warning against disruptions in transportation, deterioration in air quality, and mud rain due to expected dust transport in the Marmara and Aegean.
