British singer Lola Young managed to complete her performance despite feeling unwell on stage during her first performance at the Coachella music festival last week.
The 24-year-old singer, known for her hit song "Messy," became ill from the extreme heat on stage and had to leave the stage several times to vomit. At one point, she called out, "Can I get a bucket?"
One week after her performance, Lola Young shared a video featuring these moments with her 1.4 million Instagram followers. She humorously captioned her post, "I can't believe I was gagging and vomiting throughout my entire set at my first Coachella."
In the video, Lola suddenly starts to feel unwell and begins to gag while dancing in a green bikini top and loose pants. In another scene, she dances with one hand covering her mouth and says, "Things really got bad here." She then leaves the stage to vomit but returns shortly after, saying, "I came back and I'm dancing despite being sick."
The young singer, who approached her performance with humor, jokes with the audience, saying, "It wouldn't have been nice for me to vomit," and adds on Instagram, "If you're coming today, it might get even messier. I'm trying to hold on with all my strength."
Young announced that she felt "very nervous and it was 40 degrees" and revealed that she would be performing at the same venue again that evening.
This incident coincided with the news that Lola Young signed a publishing deal worth £10 million (approximately 390 million TL) with Universal. Her song "Messy" stayed at number one on the UK charts for four consecutive weeks, making her the British female artist with the longest-running number one since Adele in 2021.
Young also has an interesting family connection. The famous singer is the niece of Julia Donaldson, the author of popular children's books like "Gruffalo" and "Room on the Broom." This has led some circles to label her as a "nepo baby" and an "industry plant."
In response to these criticisms, Lola said, "People say I'm privileged because my aunt wrote 'Gruffalo.' What nonsense! I'm neither a privileged child nor an industry plant. Those people writing nonsense on the internet should find themselves a better hobby."
