In a statement made via social media by the Iraqi Security Media Network, it was announced that 1,905 soldiers affiliated with the Assad regime were handed over to the Syrian side at the Al-Qaim Border Gate after benefiting from the amnesty issued by the Syrian authorities.



WRITTEN COMMITMENT WAS OBTAINED



The statement noted that a written commitment was obtained from the soldiers regarding their return to their families before they left, and it was expressed that the weapons in the possession of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense would also be handed over to the newly established Syrian government.



WHAT HAD HAPPENED?



Approximately 2,000 soldiers affiliated with the overthrown Assad regime had fled to Iraq through the Al-Qaim Border Gate on December 7.
