A forest fire that started when a fire broke out on a milk truck in Balıkesir ignited pine trees is spreading towards Kütahya. The fire is being fought from the air with airplanes and helicopters, and from the ground with 300 personnel and 60 water tenders.

The forest fire that started when a fire in a milk truck spread to the forest in the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir is growing towards the Simav district of Kütahya. 

Around 2:00 PM, the fire in the milk truck also ignited the pine trees. The flames grew under the influence of the wind. It was noted that the forest fire in the lands of Düvertepe Osmanlar and Şapçı villages was growing towards the border of Simav district in Kütahya.

CONSTRUCTION MACHINES FROM MINES IN THE REGION WERE BROUGHT

Balıkesir Regional Directorate of Forestry, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, Sındırgı Municipality teams, construction machines from mines in the region, forest workers, municipal workers, and villagers were mobilized for the fire. It was learned that the fire was being fought with 12 aircraft, 60 water tenders, 3 construction machines, and more than 300 personnel, and that the wind was making extinguishing efforts difficult.

AERIAL INTERVENTION IS ALSO UNDERWAY

Aircraft are taking water from the nearby Çaygören Dam and responding to the flames from the air. The pine trees on steep slopes are being difficultly intervened with from the ground.

It was stated that the teams' extinguishing efforts in the region are ongoing.
