"Being a member of the PKK" claim led to the arrest of CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, and Can Aksoy, who was appointed as the trustee, made his first appointment.

Aksoy appointed Lawyer Yusuf Ulutaş, who previously served as the Deputy Mayor of Beyoğlu Municipality during the period when it was under the control of the AK Party, as the deputy mayor.

CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained a few days ago during a raid on his home on the allegation of being a member of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization. While searches were conducted at Özer's home and Esenyurt Municipality, the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office indicated that the investigation had been ongoing for 10 years. Özer was later referred to Çağlayan Courthouse, where he was arrested, and as a result, Can Aksoy, the District Governor of Beyoğlu, was appointed to Esenyurt Municipality.
