The first hearing in the Narin Güran murder case has concluded.

The first hearing of the case regarding the murder of Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found in a sack in the stream bed on the 19th day of the search efforts after she went missing on August 21 in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, was held today at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court. The first hearing lasted approximately 12 hours.

In the case where the detained defendants, including her mother Yüksel, her brother Enes, and her uncle Salim Güran, along with Nevzat Bahtiyar, are charged with 'intentional murder of a child in participation', the first hearing began. NEVZAT BAHTİYAR WAS SEATED IN A DIFFERENT PLACE

In the hearing where 26 witnesses, 6 of whom are detained, will be heard, Salim Güran sat in the front left, followed by Yüksel Güran and Enes Güran in order behind him. Nevzat Bahtiyar sat in the area reserved for him on the right side of the courtroom.

It was noted that uncle Güran came to the hearing in a black suit and white shirt. The mother Güran, who was brought to the courtroom after Salim Güran and Enes Güran, attracted attention with her all-black attire.

Journalist Emrullah Erdinç stated that father Arif Güran, who attended the hearing as a complainant, cried in the courtroom. Güran, who is a complainant in this case, is also a defendant in another case for tampering with evidence and shielding the perpetrator.

NEVZAT BAHTİYAR: I AM NOT UNDER PRESSURE

When the judge said, "You are being tried for participating in the murder of Narin," and gave the floor to Nevzat Bahtiyar, he replied, "I want to exercise my right to remain silent. My last statement is valid." While the judge was reading Bahtiyar's statement, the sound of Arif Güran crying interrupted the hearing, and after looking at Güran, the judge continued to ask questions:

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I only saw Salim while he was watering in my garden for 10-15 minutes, and when he came in, he just told me to 'lose Narin.'

Nevzat Bahtiyar: Salim told me to throw pieces into the stream.

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I had to do it because he threatened me. He threatened me with a gun, saying he would shoot your son Muhammed and you. I was scared.

Judge: Did you see Enes and Yüksel at home?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: No, I did not see them. Salim went outside and brought a blanket. I was alone at home; I did not see anyone. Then we wrapped it in a blanket with Salim. After that, we went to my car, and at that moment, no one saw us. I put it in my red car. At that moment, I saw Yüksel from above; she was crying.

After Nevzat Bahtiyar's confession about the relationship, father Arif Güran fainted. The judge requested Güran to be removed from the hearing. Father Güran left the courtroom in tears, saying, "What do you want?"

Diyarbakır Bar Association lawyers asked Nevzat Bahtiyar questions about how he took Narin's lifeless body to the stream:

Lawyer: You are inside the house at 15:26, and you go outside at 15:35 according to the HTS record. Did all this happen in such a short time? Wrapping the blanket, putting on slippers, and putting Narin in the car?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't remember how many minutes it took.

Lawyer: Where was Narin's bag?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: It was around her neck.

Lawyer: Who wrapped the blanket?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I wrapped it. I held one side, and Salim held the other. We both left the house together. Salim saw the slippers in front of the door and said, "Take Narin's slippers too."

Lawyer: What was the blanket like? What color was it?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I don't remember. I slowly threw the blanket down from the trough in my barn. Then I put Narin in the car by putting her in a sack. I left the blanket outside.

Lawyer: What was the water level when you put Narin in?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: There was water there. The water was about 40 or 50 cm deep.

Lawyer: You stayed there for 38 minutes. If it took you 4 minutes to go and come back, what did you do there for 30 minutes?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I didn't take off my clothes and shoes; I didn't pay attention; I didn't put the bushes. I don't know the time. I went to my sister-in-law Zeynep's to get cheese. I drank tea.

Lawyer: Didn't you go into the water?

Nevzat Bahtiyar: I didn't go in. There was 40-50 cm of water, but I didn't go into the water.

FROM THE INDICTMENT

Within the scope of the investigation, among the 12 detained suspects, the indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that Salim Güran, the uncle of Narin, who had DNA and hair samples belonging to Narin in his vehicle, along with his mother Yüksel Güran and his brother Enes Güran, were arrested. It was noted that their neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed to carrying the body to the stream bed after being detained, was found to be in the same house at the time of the incident according to HTS and base station records, and a life sentence was requested for the crime of 'intentional murder of a child in participation.'

"Considering the HTS analysis reports in the file and the expert report regarding the narrow area base study, it has been clearly established that all suspects were present at the residence. It has been concluded that the suspects, who were in unity of time and space, acted with a common intent to participate, establishing joint control over the act of murder, and that they strangled Narin Güran for an undetermined reason and motive, thus committing the crime attributed to them as joint perpetrators."
